BMW Motorrad has announced a significant refresh for its CE 04 electric maxi-scooter, first introduced in 2021, aiming to solidify its position in the premium urban electric mobility segment. The 2025 model year update introduces a suite of upgraded trim options, refined aesthetic touches, and a more robust list of features, designed to enhance the appeal of this high-performance urban commuter to discerning riders seeking advanced electric performance on two wheels.

The BMW CE 04 continues to leverage its distinctive, futuristic design and a powerful drivetrain. At its core, the scooter is powered by a mid-mounted, liquid-cooled electric motor delivering 31 kW (42 hp) and 62 Nm of torque. This powertrain enables rapid acceleration, propelling the scooter from 0 to 50 km/h (31 mph) in a mere 2.6 seconds. Its electronically limited top speed of 120 km/h (75 mph) ensures it is well-suited for both congested city environments and short highway stretches. The 8.9 kWh battery pack, strategically placed low within the frame, provides a WMTC cycle-rated range of 130 km (81 miles).

While the core performance specifications remain consistent, BMW's 2025 enhancements focus on refining the overall package and offering greater customization. The new CE 04 will be available in three distinct trims: Basic, Avantgarde, and Exclusive. The Basic trim features a classic Lightwhite paint scheme and a clear windshield, emphasizing a clean and subtle aesthetic. The Avantgarde model introduces a more dynamic look with a Gravity Blue main body, accented by vibrant São Paulo Yellow details, a dark windshield, and a laser-engraved rim. The top-tier Exclusive trim elevates luxury with a premium Spacesilver metallic finish, enhanced wind protection, heated grips, a specially embroidered seat, and its own unique engraved rim treatment.

Technological upgrades are also a key component of the 2025 refresh. Riders can now opt for a 6.9 kW quick charger, significantly reducing the 0-80% charge time to approximately 45 minutes, a substantial improvement over the standard 2.3 kW onboard charger's nearly four-hour duration. Additional available features include tire pressure monitoring, an integrated center stand, BMW’s "Headlight Pro" adaptive lighting system, an emergency eCall system, and Dynamic Traction Control, enhancing both safety and convenience.

The foundational riding components, including the robust steel-tube chassis, 15-inch wheels, Bosch ABS (with optional ABS Pro), and the intuitive 10.25-inch TFT display with integrated navigation and smartphone connectivity, are carried over. The practical under-seat storage capacity, capable of accommodating a full-face helmet, and the scooter’s low, elongated frame design contribute to its blend of distinctive aesthetics and practical urban commuting functionality.
