ChargePoint, a leading provider of EV charging solutions, has announced sales of its new Flex Plus charger, specifically designed for the European market. This strategic move targets the significant challenge of home charging for company cars, which account for approximately 60% of new car sales in the region. The Flex Plus will be paired with ChargePoint’s comprehensive Driver Management Solution to offer a seamless experience for both company car drivers and fleet managers.

The Flex Plus charger is the inaugural product built on ChargePoint’s advanced AC charging architecture, incorporating innovative technologies such as real-time dynamic load management. This feature intelligently adjusts charging speeds based on real-time power availability within a building, ensuring the fastest possible charge without necessitating costly electrical service upgrades. Furthermore, the charger boasts smart home compatibility, allowing for seamless integration with existing solar power systems, battery storage, and broader home energy management platforms.

An innovative backplate mounting system debuts with the Flex Plus, providing drivers the flexibility to easily relocate their charger when moving residences. This transforms a traditionally fixed asset into a portable one for fleet managers, reducing long-term costs and ensuring continuity of service. The charger simply attaches to a pre-wired backplate at the new location.

Hossein Kazemi, CTO for hardware at ChargePoint, emphasized the importance of a streamlined experience for fleet managers and company car drivers. "Fleet managers and company car drivers require a seamless experience to fully embrace their electric vehicles," Kazemi stated. "The new Flex Plus charger pairs with ChargePoint’s Driver Management Solution to automatically reimburse company car drivers for home charging, making it easy for drivers and fleet managers to go electric."

ChargePoint’s integrated Flex Plus and Driver Management Solution directly addresses the complex issue of accurate home charging reimbursement for fleets, leveraging the charger’s built-in meter and connectivity. Beyond reimbursement, the software manages critical aspects of both home and public charging, from initial installation support to consolidated VAT invoicing for international fleets. Fleet managers gain the ability to efficiently onboard new drivers, segment driver groups, assign specific charging rules, and monitor fleet-wide activity through a centralized dashboard.

For company car drivers, the solution offers numerous benefits. Installation of the Flex Plus is designed to be quick, professional, and convenient via ChargePoint’s network of installation partners. The traditional need for fuel stops during the workday is replaced by the convenience of overnight home charging. When public charging is required, the Driver Management Solution enables drivers to locate, utilize, and pay for charging via a customizable app, or in some cases, directly through their vehicle’s in-dash system. The ChargePoint Flex Plus is now available for order as part of the Driver Management Solution, with deliveries slated to commence later this summer.
