Enphase Energy, a leading innovator in solar and battery technology, has introduced its fourth-generation residential energy storage solution, the Enphase Energy System, centered around the new 7.08-kilowatt (kW) IQ Battery 10C. This integrated offering, designed for the U.S. market, signifies a strategic advancement in home energy management, aiming to provide enhanced power capabilities and simplified installation for homeowners seeking greater energy independence and grid resilience.

The core of Enphase's latest system is the lithium iron phosphate (LFP) IQ Battery 10C, engineered to deliver 7.08 kW of continuous power and 10 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of usable energy. This capacity is specifically designed to manage high start-up loads, such as those from HVAC systems and pool pumps, crucial for comprehensive home backup. The "all-in-one, AC-coupled storage system" features a remarkably compact form factor, measuring 71cm wide, 62cm high, and 36.5cm deep, representing a significant reduction in physical footprint.

Enphase reports that the new system achieves nearly 34 percent greater energy density while occupying up to 62 percent less wall space compared to its predecessors. The IQ Battery 10C is scalable from 10 kWh to 80 kWh, allowing for flexible configurations based on household energy demands. Its integrated neutral-forming microinverters facilitate seamless backup functionality and simplify the system architecture by reducing external hardware. The system is also capable of integrating both 240 V and 120 V microinverters, enhancing its versatility. Complementing the battery, the IQ Meter Collar provides microgrid interconnection device (MID) functionality, and the IQ Combiner 6 consolidates interconnection equipment into a single enclosure, streamlining the overall installation process.

The initial rollout of this fourth-generation system is primarily focused on the United States market, with manufacturing operations based in Texas. This domestic production strategy is critical, as it enables solar and storage projects utilizing the Enphase system to qualify for the Domestic Content Bonus Credit, a key incentive under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). This alignment with federal policy underscores Enphase's commitment to bolstering the U.S. clean energy supply chain and making residential storage more economically viable for consumers.

Ken Fong, senior vice president and general manager of the Americas and APAC at Enphase Energy, stated, "With the launch of our 4th-generation Enphase Energy System, we’re delivering smarter, more efficient, and more powerful solutions that simplify installation, enhance reliability, and provide greater value to homeowners. We’re excited to continue driving innovation and supporting installers in bringing cutting-edge solar and storage technology to more customers worldwide.” This launch reinforces Enphase's position as a leader in the residential energy storage sector. The emphasis on compactness, higher energy density, and simplified installation addresses critical pain points for both installers and homeowners, potentially accelerating the adoption of integrated solar-plus-storage solutions. The strategic domestic manufacturing also positions Enphase to capitalize on federal incentives, further driving market penetration and contributing to the decentralization and resilience of the U.S. power grid.
