NAIROBI – The Minister of Energy, Dr. Aisha Khan, and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Chief, Inger Andersen, today formally signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at bolstering regional cooperation on emissions reduction and advancing global climate action. The agreement, inked during the sidelines of the Africa Climate Summit in Nairobi, underscores a concerted effort to accelerate the deployment of clean energy technologies and establish robust policy frameworks essential for a sustainable energy transition.

The MoU outlines a comprehensive strategy focusing on several key pillars: facilitating technology transfer for renewable energy solutions, enhancing capacity building within national energy sectors, harmonizing regional energy policies to attract greater investment, and developing innovative financing mechanisms for large-scale clean energy projects.
