Nuveen, a global asset manager overseeing $1.3 trillion in assets, announced on October 1, 2025, the formation of a dedicated Global Infrastructure Investment Platform. This strategic consolidation brings together multiple specialized teams under unified leadership to meet surging investor demand for critical infrastructure assets. The initiative, based in New York, aims to leverage Nuveen's $340 billion private markets business to address an estimated $94 trillion global infrastructure investment need by 2040, primarily driven by urgent energy transition requirements, digital transformation, and the replacement of aging infrastructure in developed markets.
This new platform is designed to integrate Nuveen's expertise across sustainable real estate financing, clean energy development, infrastructure credit, and digital infrastructure equity investments. Bill Huffman, Chief Executive Officer of Nuveen, emphasized the firm's readiness to deliver comprehensive infrastructure solutions spanning the entire risk-return spectrum, from development-stage clean energy projects to stabilized digital infrastructure assets and differentiated securitized investment-grade opportunities. He stated, "By bringing together our specialized teams, we can better serve clients who are seeking to allocate capital to the infrastructure investments that are essential to the global economy."
Jessica Bailey, formerly CEO of Nuveen Green Capital, has been appointed to the newly created role of Head of Global Infrastructure. She will be responsible for scaling the platform, which already manages $36 billion in AUM across private infrastructure debt and equity and listed infrastructure, placing it among the top 20 infrastructure managers globally. Bailey will report to Saira Malik, Nuveen Chief Investment Officer.
The Global Infrastructure Investment Platform integrates several established teams. Nuveen Energy Infrastructure Credit, led by Don Dimitrievich, provides private credit solutions for energy and power infrastructure development, focusing on digitalization, electrification, and reindustrialization across North America, Europe, and OECD markets. Specialized Nuveen Infrastructure Equity Teams, under Biff Ourso, manage direct investments and co-investments in diversified infrastructure, including North American clean energy, agricultural, digital, transportation, and social assets. This includes dedicated teams for Clean Energy Infrastructure, which manages capital for private clean and renewable energy and energy storage projects globally, and Digital Infrastructure, which targets private equity investments in cloud, connectivity, and technology services.
Additionally, Nuveen Green Capital, co-founded by Alexandra Cooley who now serves as its CEO and CIO, continues its role as a national leader in sustainable financing solutions for commercial real estate, focusing on energy efficiency, renewable energy, and resiliency projects through C-PACE financing. While the investment strategies of each team remain unchanged, the unified platform is expected to enhance client service and capitalize on Nuveen's extensive municipal bond management expertise.
