OMCO Solar and Kinematics Partner to Offer First 100% U.S.-Made Solar Tracker System
Key Insights
OMCO Solar and Kinematics have partnered to offer the first 100% U.S.-made solar tracker system, enhancing domestic manufacturing capabilities.
This collaboration enables solar projects to immediately qualify for significant federal domestic content tax credits under recent U.S. legislation.
OMCO Solar leverages its five U.S. plants and 13 GW annual capacity, while Kinematics provides U.S.-made drives and motors for the systems.
The initiative strengthens the U.S. solar supply chain, reduces import reliance, and supports the growth of domestic green energy jobs.
OMCO Solar, a leading U.S. manufacturer of solar racking and tracker systems, has announced the immediate availability of solar tracker systems with components entirely manufactured in the United States, a significant milestone achieved through a strategic partnership with Kinematics, a global leader in solar tracker actuators. This development positions OMCO Solar to directly support projects aiming to qualify for crucial domestic content tax credits under recent U.S. legislation.
“OMCO has historically been a leader in solar domestic manufacturing, and this achievement, working in conjunction with our partners at Kinematics, is a milestone for our team,” stated Eric Goodwin, VP of Business Development at OMCO Solar. He emphasized the timely nature of this offering, noting that it allows OMCO to “deliver for our customers immediately in the aftermath of the OBBB passage and the compressed schedule requirements to ensure tax credits for projects are secured.” This directly references the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), which provides substantial incentives for projects utilizing U.S.-made components.
OMCO Solar operates five manufacturing plants across the U.S., boasting an impressive annual capacity to produce trackers and racking for 13 GW of new solar construction. This extensive domestic footprint underscores the company’s commitment to U.S. manufacturing. Kinematics complements this capability by supplying its American-made drives, motors, and controllers, which are critical components for solar tracker functionality. Kinematics maintains three manufacturing facilities in the United States, alongside additional global factories, supporting over 135 gigawatts of fielded systems worldwide.
Jenn Cangelosi, VP of Global Sales at Kinematics, affirmed their commitment: “At Kinematics, we are proud to support our solar tracker partners like OMCO Solar with actuators, motors, and controllers that qualify for U.S. domestic content.” She highlighted Kinematics’ unique position to deliver high-performance motion solutions at scale, leveraging their global expertise and domestic production capabilities.
The partnership marks a pivotal step towards strengthening the U.S. solar supply chain, reducing reliance on foreign imports, and fostering a more resilient domestic renewable energy sector. As the industry navigates the complexities of federal incentives and supply chain disruptions, the availability of fully U.S.-made tracker systems provides a crucial advantage for developers seeking to maximize project economics and comply with evolving regulatory requirements.
