Seguin, Texas – Pine Gate Renewables has initiated construction on the 210-megawatt (MW) Magnolia Solar project near Seguin, Texas, marking its fourth significant renewable energy collaboration with technology giant Meta. This utility-scale solar facility underscores Meta's ongoing commitment to achieve 100% clean and renewable energy for its global operations, a critical objective for major data center operators. The project, secured through a renewable purchase agreement, is strategically positioned to commence commercial operation in 2026.
The Magnolia Solar project represents a substantial investment in Texas's renewable energy infrastructure. Beyond its generation capacity, the development is projected to create hundreds of local construction jobs, providing a significant economic boost to the region. Furthermore, the facility is anticipated to contribute over $30 million in local tax revenue throughout its operational lifespan, without imposing additional strain on existing municipal resources or infrastructure. This economic benefit is a key factor in community engagement, as evidenced by Magnolia Solar's membership in the Seguin Chamber of Commerce and its recent sponsorship of five scholarships via the Independent Cattlemen’s Association of Texas.
