The Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District (APCD), in collaboration with Allan Hancock College, Central Coast Clean Cities Coalition (C5), Ventura County Air Pollution Control District, and Central Coast Community Energy (3CE), will host a free demonstration of electric off-road and landscape equipment on Wednesday, July 9, from 10 AM to 1 PM at Allan Hancock College’s South Campus Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) Track in Santa Maria, California. The event aims to accelerate the transition to zero-emission operations by showcasing a range of electric machinery and detailing available funding opportunities for businesses and organizations.
The demonstration will feature a diverse array of electric equipment, including Monarch Tractor’s MK-V tractor, a mini excavator and loader from Volvo Construction Equipment & Services, a mini loader from Warrior Machinery, and the Xos Hub mobile electric vehicle (EV) charging station. Attendees will also experience various electric landscape tools from manufacturers such as Makita, Pacific Equipment, and Milwaukee Tools. This direct exposure allows potential adopters to evaluate the performance and operational benefits of these advanced electric solutions in a practical setting.
A central focus of the event is the provision of financial incentives designed to mitigate the upfront costs of electrification. All demonstrated equipment is eligible for funding under the Santa Barbara County APCD’s Clean Air Grants for Off-Road Equipment and Infrastructure programs. APCD staff will be present to provide detailed information on the upcoming 2025 Clean Air Grants (CAG) program, with the application window scheduled to open on Monday, July 28, and close on Friday, September 5, 2025. Additionally, representatives from Central Coast Community Energy (3CE) will discuss rebates available through their Ag Electrification Program for all-electric agricultural equipment replacements.
Ventura County APCD will also offer insights into its Lawn & Garden Equipment Exchange Program vouchers and future off-road equipment funding opportunities for businesses operating within Ventura County. This multi-agency approach underscores a regional commitment to improving air quality and fostering sustainable economic development through the widespread adoption of electric technologies in sectors traditionally reliant on internal combustion engines. The initiative is expected to significantly reduce localized emissions, contributing to cleaner air and a more sustainable operational landscape across the Central Coast.
