VinFast has officially inaugurated its new electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing plant in Hà Tĩnh, Vietnam, located within the Vũng Áng Economic Zone. The facility commenced operations less than seven months after construction began, marking a significant acceleration in the Vietnamese automaker's global production network. Spanning 360,000 square meters, the plant boasts an initial design capacity of 200,000 vehicles per year, with plans for future expansion to meet growing market demand.
The Hà Tĩnh plant represents VinFast's second EV manufacturing site in Vietnam and its fifth project within a developing global production network. Its rapid completion underscores the company's execution capabilities. The facility integrates key workshops, including Body Welding, Painting, and General Assembly, alongside a Logistics Warehouse and Quality Control Center. An additional 240,000-square-meter auxiliary cluster is under construction to support future growth.
Equipped with advanced automation technologies from leading global partners such as ABB, DÜRR, FANUC, and SIEMENS, the Hà Tĩnh plant is designed for high efficiency, with an average output of 35 vehicles per hour. All manufacturing processes adhere strictly to international standards, including ISO 9001 for Quality Management Systems, ISO 14001 for Environmental Management Systems, and IATF 16949 for Automotive Quality Management Systems, ensuring robust quality control and environmental stewardship.
Initially, the plant will focus on producing compact urban EV models, including the VF 3, Minio Green, and EC Van, alongside several new models currently under development. Vehicles manufactured at this site will serve both the domestic Vietnamese market and international export destinations, reinforcing VinFast's global ambitions. The facility is projected to create approximately 6,000 direct jobs in its initial phase, with potential for expansion to 15,000 jobs, significantly contributing to local employment and regional socioeconomic development.
Mr. Nguyễn Việt Quang, Vice Chairman and CEO of Vingroup, stated, "The inauguration of the VinFast Hà Tĩnh plant marks a significant milestone in VinFast’s long-term development strategy and its global production expansion. Once operational, this facility will help VinFast move closer to its goal of producing one million vehicles per year to meet growing demand in both domestic and international markets." He emphasized the facility's role in demonstrating VinFast's technological capability and production autonomy. The plant is also expected to attract auxiliary partners to the industrial zone, fostering a synchronized supply chain and advancing the goal of achieving over 80% localization in EV production by 2026.
